2005. A loving tribute from a grandson to his late grandfather, David's
CD is a moving collection of sacred vocal music, some of which is sung in
Swedish. Several meditative organ pieces are also included. The
music heard on the CD was composed or arranged by David's grandfather, Gerhard
Theodore Alexis, and stems from his years as organist and choir director
at First Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN (1916-1927). Some hymns and
liturgical pieces appeared in the 1925 Augustana Synod Hymnal as well as
in the 1958 Lutheran Service Book and Hymnal. Paul Boehnke '82 accompanies
David's tenor and is also featured as organ soloist. Produced and
sung by David Melbye '82.
